V5C LOG BOOK / FORM
It’s the form which says that you’re the owner of the vehicle. Don’t worry as your buyer will help complete the required sections upon sale. Make sure to keep the yellow ‘sell, transfer or part-exchange your vehicle to the motor trade’ section from it.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER SCRAPPING MY VEHICLE
CONTACT THE DVLA
So you’ve delivered your car or had it collected. You’ve kept the yellow section from your V5C log book. You’ve been paid. Now what? You need to tell the DVLA that you’ve scrapped your car with an ATF or possibly face a £1,000 fine.
- You need the 11 digit reference number from the latest vehicle V5C log book, plus the name of the ATF / scrap buyer.

RECEIVE CONFIRMATION & REFUND
After you’ve told the DVLA you’ve scrapped your car, you’ll receive a letter confirming you’re no longer the keeper of the vehicle. Plus a CERTIFICATE OF DESTRUCTION. You’ll receive a cheque for any full months left on your vehicle tax. Direct debits cancel automatically.
